A message to veterans
Whether you're active duty or left the service years ago, warfighters are still needed for the Kingdom of Heaven and the spiritual fight for our country, and our families. Your proven commitment to service, duty, discipline, and sacrifice uniquely qualifies you for this role. It's time to reengage in the fight and bring your skills to the battlefield - the spiritual battlefield.
Prepare Before the Battle
Evaluate. Submit. Study. Pray
Step 1 Evaluate Yourself
Before you can engage in any battle you must evaluate where you're at spiritually. Ask yourself some very important questions.
Am I ready?
Do I believe in Jesus Christ as my savior?
Have I repented of my sins?
Am I studying his word?
Am I making him my priority?
Am I growing in Christ?
If you're not sure, or can't answer some of these questions with confidence, it's okay. You can start today. Start reading the Bible today. Start learning about him today. Repent today. Pray today. Ask for forgiveness today.

Step 2 Submit to Jesus Christ
Before you can engage the enemy you must know Christ as your savior. This is critical. For more information on Salvation go here. Knowing you're on the right side of the battle is paramount for success. Spiritual warfare is not something to take lightly. Submit to Christ alone and grow in him. Then you will have faith to move mountains, pull down strongholds, and be an effective prayer warrior for your family and your country.
Step 3 Develop Skills of Study and Prayer
These two elements are mission critical. Studying the Word of God is paramount for spiritual warfare. God's Word is our weapon. Knowing what he says and how it applies to us is extremely important. If you aren't already in a scheduled weekly (or daily) study of God's Word we offer several options here at TBB. The Standard Bearer is a study of one chapter per week. There is also a Study Guide. Both will help get you in shape and on your way to knowing God's Word.
Don't neglect this.
In addition, prayer is vital. Prayer is open communication with your Heavenly Father through our Savior Jesus Christ. Begin to pray. Or pray more often. Talk with him. Prayer is talking with God from an honest heart. Develop this relationship. He will meet you right where you're at.

What to expect when you engage in spiritual warfare
When the enemy sees that you are no longer passively sitting on the sidelines, and are actively praying in faith, he will target you for attack.
Expect this.
This can come in many forms, so be clear -minded, and discern what is happening before you react.
These attacks may look like any of the following:
Unusual or intense irritability at other people.
You become more easily offended at what people say or do.
You become targeted for no apparent reason (work, family, etc.).
You may have unexpected health concerns.
Your finances might be targeted.
Your friends might start acting differently.
Your family might start reacting in peculiar ways.
The list can go on...
Before you start to wonder what is going on, and before you ever react to any situation, stop. Don't say a word. Do NOT react.
This is exactly what the enemy wants you to do. He wants you to speak negative words. He is trying to get a negative reaction to confirm he struck his target.
Remain silent.
Then SPEAK THE WORD OF GOD OUT LOUD.
No weapon formed against me will prosper. (This attack will not be successful.)
You will refute every tongue that accuses you. (I will defend myself according to God's Word.)
I am blessed and not cursed. (I am blessed by God.)
Great will be my children's peace. (My family will be just fine.)
By his stripes we are healed. (My health is secure because of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.)
I shall not be in want. (I have everything I need.)
I am the head and not the tail. (I am not forgotten. I am a leader and not at the end of the line.)
Christ is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. (Christ reigns. Christ wins. Every single time. )
And every other scripture that comes to mind.
When you pray the Word of God, you come into agreement with what he has already spoken. God's word will never, and can never, change. Speak this out. It is the weapon of our warfare. Have faith that what God said, he will bring to pass. Have faith that regardless of what things look like, He will act and fulfill every word he has spoken.
Faith is not hope.
Faith is not "wait and see" (proof).
Faith is 100% knowing God will do it.
When we come under attack:
STOP. Do not react.
WAIT. Gain your composure.
PRAY the Word of God.
And remember, you are warfighters. Be sure to wear your armor.
The Full Armor of God
